SBTD-December 2017 - Santa's Sleigh

I have been asked a few times to share the directions for this card using Santa's Sleigh stamp set and Thinlets.  I have hesitated because the directions are long, but if you are willing to read them, here they are.  You will also find that my photos show some retired items, however, I have included current items that can substitute and that will work just as well.

Cutting Information

Whisper White THICK 5.5” x 10”  5.5” x 8”
Real Red 4.75” x 5.25” (2)    5.25” x 6.75”
Whisper White 4.5” x 5” (2)    5” x 6.5”  + Scraps
Crumb Cake 4.25” x 11”
Foil Sheets—Gold 4” x 4.75”
Glimmer Paper—Gold 1.25” x 3.25”
Real Red Scrap
DSP    4” x 12”  (Any DSP that has a nice print for the trees, I like the plaid from Pick a Pattern, although the sample shows retired DSP).
Window Sheets -  1.75” x 12”

Instructions:
 1. Score the Thick Whisper White Cards stock as follows:  5.5”x10” at 5”  and the 5.5” x 8” at 7”
2. Using Tear & Tape adhesive, adhere the two pieces together (1” behind the 5” folded pieces).
3. Run the pieces of Whisper White card stock though the Big Shot using the retired Gently Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (T.I.E.F.) if you have it, the larger piece (5” x 6.5”) will need to run through twice to cover it all.  This folder will work well for that.  If you do not have that one, the Sparkle T.I.E.F. would work well too.
4. Adhere the above to the matching Real Red Card stock and adhere to the middle inside.  The front piece will have the Window Sheet tucked behind the bottom right corner and the larger piece will need to cut a slit to add the Window Sheet strip behind it where Rudolph will be.  You can determine that by eyeballing it, or wait until you place the reindeer, this is just one of the decide as you go items in this project.  Class members found it easier to attach this piece at the top only until ready to complete. See step #4 in Assembly Directions for more information.
5. Stamp 9 reindeer using Early Espresso ink onto the Crumb Cake card stock (you can fit more onto the card stock by placing them right side up and right side down.
6. Leave a little room on the Crumb Cake card stock to stamp one little bear. Color in his belly with the White Chalk Marker.
7. Stamp approximately 10 Trees using Early Espresso ink onto the DSP, they will also fit if you do some upside down.  You may find you want want more, or less, trees in your final design.
8. On the scrap of Whisper White card stock, stamp one gift package in Real Red ink.
9. On the Real Red card stock using VersaMark ink stamp another gift package and emboss with Gold Embossing Powder.  Use the Heat Gun to emboss.
10. Use the Big Shot to cut out the trees, the reindeer, the presents, and the bear.  Cut the sleigh from the Foil Sheet paper and the word Wish from the Cupcake Cutout Framelits (Sample shows the word Joy from the retired Wonderful Wreath Framelits).
11. Cut the scroll work of the sleigh from the Gold Glimmer Paper.
12. Using the scrap from the gold Foil Sheet paper cut out the small flower from the Blossom Builder punch.

Assembly Instructions:
1. Using the Fine Tip Glue pen adhere the filigree to the sleigh base. (set to dry a few minutes)  Then adhere one end of the Window Sheet strip behind the sleigh.
2. Adhere 8 of the reindeer to each other in pairs slightly off set and the back one slightly higher.  I recommend using Stampin' Dimensionals.

3. Add a touch of red to the last reindeer (Rudolf) by coloring a Rhinestone Basic with a Stampin' Blends—Cherry Cobbler.

4. Determine where to put the folds in the strip of Window Sheet.  I found this is best figured out with each creation.  Begin attaching the reindeer as follows.  The first fold should be behind the first pair of reindeer so it does not show when folded back, they will be the front of the card.   It works well to tuck the end of the Window Sheet between the card base and the matted Whisper White/Real Red card stock.

Another pair at the next inside fold (right up against it so the knees of the reindeer at the fold without folding the reindeer).  Add a pair between the first reindeer pair and the 2nd pair.  Check the fold to be sure it hides behind.  Add the last pair in front of the 3 previous pairs.  Add Rudolf in front of the pairs  TIP:  The Window Sheet should hide behind all of the reindeer if placed carefully.  You can trim any of the any that may be showing round the reindeer if desired.
5. Add the reins by gently tying Mini Tinsel Trim  starting at Rudolf with the center of the trim (sample used the retired Gold Bakers Twine) then wrapping one side to the back reindeer and the other to front reindeer in the pairs.  You should have plenty left which you will tuck behind the sleigh cutting off any excess.
6. Add the presents to the sleigh and adhere to to front of cards to one side (see the sleigh hits the edge of the Whisper White. Do not adhere the top front yet (we are going to add the reins to that part).
7. Adhere a Basic Rhinestone to the red package, sample shows a small flower cut from Gold Foil Sheet as well, this is optional of course.
8. Adhere to word Wish (or Joy) to center top.
9. Adhere one tree so half of it on the front of card and half is hanging off the fold.
10. Adhere the first set of reindeer to the front—then ‘tie’ the reins to the sleigh.
11. Add one tree by the 2nd pair and last pair of reindeer  Add the other trees as shown, save one!
12. Decide where Rudolf will need to be adhered and add the last tree.
13. Adhere Rudolf using Stampin’ Dimensionals. He should be hidden when the card is closed.
14. Remember to sign the back of your project to show that you cared enough to make it yourself!
15. You can make an envelope using DSP and the Envelope Punch Board.

I hope you enjoyed this project, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON THE ASSEMBLY! I know, it's a lot.
