SU Leadership

Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference Here I Come....

I am so excited to be less then 24 hours away from Arizona, and Stampin' Up!'s Annual Leadership Conference.  The meetings are always very informative and I learn a lot about how to better run my business, however, there is also a lot of stamping going on, and ideas shared by the approximately 1,000 demonstrators who come from all over the USA and Canada.  Of course there will also be a lot of hugs and laughter as I find all of my old friends.

On Thursday night I will attend the Manager's Event, which is always over the top excitement.  We've been to places like Epcot in FL, a Polo Match in Palm Springs, CA, a 'carnival' in SLC, a 50's Hop in Memphis, and Universal Studios sealed of their Super Hero Island for last year....I can't wait to see what is waiting for us this time.  Oh, and we get more gifts there too!  It's very exclusive and not all of the Leadership attendees can go, I am honored to be able to be a part of it!

I will be swapping a card, that I don't have downloaded yet...but will do that for you when I get back.  However, below you can see the gifts I made for my Downline, My Upline, My roommate, and for me!  It's a lap board that has a steno pad that slides into it, along with a matching pen!  I don't know if you can see it very well, but in the right corner of each board is the person's name inside a piece of 'hardware', it's a bit glittery so you may not see it well.  Also, each corner is secured with a Rhinestone Brad.  The colors were picked according to each person's personality...I really hope they like them!!  Here's some pictures....

Below are each one individually fora better look.  The Orchid Opulence one is for Jan, my upline, the Pretty in Pink one is for Trevis, my roomie, on the bottom row, the  Tempting Turquoise one is for Sue, my downline, and the last one is for me.  Notice I used the new boarder punch from Sale-a-Braion on mine & Trevis'...plus the matching corner punch on mine.  Way Cool Tool!!

How I Made Them:

The lapboard is sturdy and made from 2 pcs of the large (9 3/8") On Board Book Basics Item (#110713 - you get 4 pieces so you can make two with on pack).  I cut a small 2/4 circle at the top of each board, slightly off center of each other, to make it easier to open and slip in the steno pad.

I then added a piece of scrap chipboard around the sides and bottom (inside the 'sandwich) to give it room to insert/remove the steno pad.  I just used old pieces I had from Designer Series Paper backing material, or whatever I had on hand. I used the Corner Rounder Punch (Item #109047) to trim the corners of these 'shims' before adhering them to the back piece of On Board Basics.  I used Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive (Item #110755).  To make a more finished project, use a matching Stampin' Write Marker, brush end, to color the sides of the chip On Board/chipboard.  It's a good idea to color in where the 1/2 circles will show though when you sandwich all the pieces. (see pages 155 -157 of the current Idea Book & Catalog for Markers).

Before you put the sides together add the Designer Series Paper to the front (I rounded those corners too).  Then add the name plate, and elastic for the pen.  I used the Crop-a-dile (item #108362) to make the holes.  I used an Anywhere Glue Stick (Item #104045 you get 2) to adhere the DSP...I love how it works on any chipboard items.

The last step before assembly is to use the Crop-a-dile to punch holes in the four corners.  Then use the Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive to on the sides and bottom (where the extra chipboard is) and adhere the two sides together (one of them is still blank chipboard).  Clamp together and let dry.  Then insert the Rhinestone Brads so the 'tails' are at the back (blank) side of the project.  Then add matching Card Stock to the back piece hiding those 'tails' and you are done...excepting for making a matching cover for your steno pad!

Let Me Know How Yours Turns Out!

Hugs, Karie B.
