Lovely Friends
I love to send cards to my
friends for no reason other than to let them know I am thinking of them. After all, that is what a card delivered to
someone’s actual mail box (the
physical one not the cyber one) is all about. Nothing say’s I’m
thinking of you like it! A text say’s I’m busy but have a questions, an email say’s a bit
more…but still I'm busy. But when you take
the time to create a hand-made card it lets the receiver know that you thought
about them when you picked the colors, when you picked the images, the words,
etc.
That’s why I love the new stamp
set “Lovely Friends” from the 2017-18 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. Because
I have friends in a wide range of age groups, I created the below cards to
reach out to the younger group and another for the more ‘experienced’ ones. I let you decide which is which.
I also stamped the inside.
The first card uses Old Olive card
stock for the base, the new In Color, Fresh Fig, and Gold Foil paper for a mat
on the Very Vanilla where I stamped the images.
The inks used are Fresh Fig, Tangerine Tango, and Old Olive (the lighter
background of the large & small flowers are ‘2nd generation’ to
create the lighter color). I stamped the
floral design first. To avoid the leaf
stems from stampin’ onto your flowers, stamp and cut out the images on post-it
notes to mat (cover) the images on your project before stampin’ the
leaf images then remove the mats before stampin’ the sentiment.
For the sentiment I first *matted
over the script words before I inked in Fresh Fig, removed the mats, then
stamped onto the card front. After
cleaning the stamp; I inked the script words in VersaMark this time *matting
the other words after inking but before stamping. I used the Heat Tool and Gold Embossing
Powder to give it that extra shine.
*I found
using scotch tape for the matting to be easiest to manipulate around the script
(see photo).
This 2nd version is almost the same but using different color combinations.
I used Tangerine Tango, Bermuda Bay, and the
New In Color, Lemon Lime Twist. The
flower is done the same way as the first card, however, in the center I added
one of our awesome new Glitter Enamel Dots.
For the sentiment I first inked 1/3rd of the image in Lemon
Lime Twist, then I covered the opposite end (again about 1/3rd) and carefully inked the center
section in Tangerine Tango, then removed the mat covering the rest of the image
in Bermuda Bay. When trying this
technique it’s best to start with the lightest color gradually moving to the
darkest.
I am pretty sure you will see a
lot of the Lovely Friends stamp set (#143763 23 photopolymer stamps). It has some great sentiments that will go
with many projects.
