Theme Week-Designer Series Paper-Day 2

Welcome Back to Theme Week!
Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Monday 3/12 – Saturday 3/17

I am hope you are enjoying the Theme Weeks I have been doing for the last few months.  I really enjoy enjoying creating new ideas for you.  I picked DSP this time because I know there are so many things we can do with it.  From a basic background on a card, to creating dimensions by cutting-crinkling-folding-and embossing.  I will show each of these ideas this week.

Today’s project is super simple.  I cut a piece of DSP to 4” x 5 ¼” and the crumbled it into a ball.  I kept mine loose this time, however, you can go crazy and really smash it up.  It just depends on the look you want to achieve.

After crumbling the DSP I carefully opened it back and sort-of-but-not-quite smoothed it out, then I used a light sander block to destress it.  This will remove some of the color from the DSP and make your crumbling stand out more.  You want to leave some hills and valleys if you sand your DSP like I did.  If I wasn’t get a ridge as sanding as I liked I would hold the DSP in a way to make sanding just that ridge easier.  This way I didn’t sand away all the design.

The DSP was matted with coordinating card stock (cs) because this will make it stronger on your project.  I also added some Shimmer Ribbon and Glitter Enamel Dots for some bling over the distressing.

You may not be able to see in the photo, however, I stamp the little flower onto the DSP and fussy cut it out to adhere over the flower stamped under the sentiment (the little leaves & vine were colored with Watercolor Pencils)

I hope you will come back tomorrow.  I will be sharing a fun folded ‘ruffle’ technique.

Until Next time . . .
                   Hugs, Karie B.
