Paper Pumpkin Alternative
Day by Day (December 2018)
I admit it, at first I was not so
excited by the calendar project this month.
However, my friend, Diana Gibbs, had a great idea to use the photo stand
from Ikea to create a flip calendar.
While mine is different, I wanted to be sure to give her credit.
This is how the stand comes
You will also need some jump rings, at least 1.75 inches
First I then added Pool Party
Cardstock to fit inside, adhere some retired DSP to both sides and trimmed the
thick chipboard/DSP from the kit so this new background would fit into the
photo-slot in the stand (The chipboard
piece was to be the base of the original design with the monthly pages tied to it
with the beautiful Pool Party ribbon that came with the kit).
I used a variety of Designer Series paper and stamps, mostly the set from the kit, to decorate each of the months (there are 18!!). One of the stamps in this kit is a little circle so you can circle important dates. I love this because I can see at a glance that there are cards to send and I can look in my larger book planner to see who to send them too. No More Forgotten Birthdays!!
The label I placed on top of the stand was made by stamping the phrase (from the kit) in Memento ink onto Pool Party Card Stock. I punched a few pieces of the card stock and adhere them together to make it extra thick. Then, to make it shinny, I covered the entire thing with the Fine Tip Glue Pen, which dries clear. This tag does make it impossible to actually flip the months over without opening the rings to move them to the back, but I decided seeing that sentiment everyday was worth that small effort.
